Hunger explores the complicated relationship many women develop with food, body image and self-worth.

Growing up surrounded by narrow beauty standards, I learnt to see my changing body as something to control rather than honour. This painting was created from that vulnerable place: the shame, pressure and self-rejection that can quietly shape the female experience.

I wanted to capture the journey from criticism to compassion. To look back at younger versions of myself with softness, and to recognise food, the body and appetite as sources of nourishment rather than fear.

Hunger is ultimately about healing. It is a reminder to be your own best friend, to meet yourself with tenderness, and to nourish both body and soul with all the beauty this world has to offer.
